Arizona allows suspension lifts as long as mud flaps and fenders are used. There is no maximum frame height and no body lift or bumper height restrictions. In additional to suspension lift kits being allowed, Arizona residents are free to install aftermarket wheels and tires, performance shocks, aftermarket bumpers, and grille guards.

The maximum vehicle size in Arizona is 102 inches wide, 13 feet 6 inches tall, and 40 feet long for a single vehicle.

Tire Restrictions
Tires

All tires on vehicles driven in Arizona must be in safe operating condition, without any bulges or exposed cords. There is no specific minimum tread depth and no information on tire grooving .

Arizona’s code makes no reference to wheels, however, they do need to be safe for highway use.

Braking Requirements
Brakes

Cars and trucks driven in Arizona are required to have brakes on all 4 wheels. The brakes must be capable of stopping the vehicle from a speed of 20 mph within 30 feet. A secondary, mechanical, parking brake is also required.

Arizona does not have any specific rules for a vehicle’s steering system other than that it needing to be in safe operating condition.

There are no bumper height restrictions in Arizona.

Fender Requirements
Fenders

In Arizona, mud flaps and fenders that cover the full width of the tire and extend down to 8 inches above the roadway are only required on commercial vehicles and pickup trucks with modified suspension systems.

In addition to headlights and tail lights, vehicles in Arizona are allowed to have additional, auxiliary lights installed. When a vehicle is equipped with extra lighting, the maximum number of lights that can be turned on in the front of the vehicle is 4.
