Kansas is one of the most off-road friendly states in the country. There are no suspension lift limits, body lift limits, frame height limits, or bumper height restrictions in Kansas. Vehicle owners are free to install suspension lift kits, aftermarket wheels and tires, performance shocks, aftermarket bumpers, and grille guards.

Dimensions

Vehicle size in Kansas cannot exceed 102 inches wide, 14 feet tall, or 45 feet long for a single vehicle.

Tire Restrictions
Tires

Kansas requires that tires be in safe operating condition, without any bulges or exposed cords. The minimum allowed tread depth is 1/16 inch. Tires are allowed to be re-grooved up to the original tire tread depth.

The Kansas statutes make no reference to wheels.

Braking Requirements

Vehicles driven in Kansas are required to have brakes capable of stopping the vehicle from a speed of 20 mph within 40 feet. A secondary, mechanical, parking brake is required.

In addition to headlights and tail lights, vehicles in Kansas are allowed to have several additional lights installed. When a vehicle is equipped with extra lighting, the maximum number of lights that can be on in the front of the vehicle is 4.

The Kansas code does not specifically state whether windshields are required, although, vehicles with windshields are required to have windshield wipers.
