Hawaii’s suspension lift limit is determined by frame height and bumper height. Body lifts are limited to only 3 inches. In additional to allowing suspension lift kits and body lifts, aftermarket wheels and tires, performance shocks, aftermarket bumpers, and grille guards as also allowed.

Hawaii requires only that tires be in safe operating condition, without any bulges or exposed cords. There is no listed minimum tread depth and there is no reference to tire grooving in the code.

The only requirements for brakes are that they be capable of controlling the vehicle and that they be properly maintained.

In Hawaii, a vehicle’s frame must not be higher than the bumper. The body of the vehicle can be no higher than 3 inches above the frame.
